Alien Standee insert design complete and approved
over 5 years ago – Thu, Sep 20, 2018 at 01:02:16 AM

Just got the final design for the Alien Standee insert and approved it.

Now just waiting on the next box templates to update the art and the game should be 100% in manufacturing.

Token Samples arrived!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Sep 14, 2018 at 12:19:04 AM

We have tokens and they look amazing!

This is just a quick update so you can see them.

On the left you have the inferno tower with 3 shot tokens ready to go.

On the right you have a walker with 15HP, 4 shield tokens, a slow token, stealth toke, and 3 cores on top.

Yea a walker could never be that terrifying, but he will continue to dream.

Would love to hear what you think.

New Samples are still wrong...
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 20, 2018 at 08:31:45 PM

So, this sucks, but we got the new samples and they are still wrong.  We are so frustrated that I cannot begin to express it.

Basically, there are 3 issues.

1) The Missile Tower is still aimed incorrectly and blocking its own pillar.  We have addressed this over and over and over with Panda.

2) The 2 inserts were not updated at all.  They are identical to what we received before and said would not work and provided new specs for.

3) The Alien Standees they were suddenly planning to ship un-assembled.  AKA - make all our backers have to glue 2 pillars by hand into each standee.  This is unacceptable to us and we had clearly communicated for over a year that we are making a premium product with everything pre-assembled and pre-punched.

So, what do we do now.  Get it right first and foremost.

1) I have escalated, again, to a VP at Panda.  Last time I did this he helped to get a bunch of things fixed and going after our contact disappeared for months.  I am hopeful he will help again.

2) I made it clear, again, that the standees have to be pre-assembled at the factory.  They expressed concern that shipping them pre-assembled. could result in bending of the pillars.  This circles back to over a year ago when we were told the exact opposite, that this wouldn't be an issue.

So, I have requested that 2 additional inserts be created ASAP that are molded to hold each Alien Standee individually with chipboard token.  This will protect them, make for an even better experience, and allow them to be pre-assembled.  This is what we originally planned and asked to do, but were advised it wasn't needed.  I am somehow unsurprised.

In addition, I instructed them to start work on this immediately without giving me an estimate on cost increase and having me sign-off.  This is likely going to add about $5,000 to the total cost of producing and shipping all 2000 copies of the game, but we can handle that.  Better than backers getting broken parts or having to assemble over 170 components.

I don't know if this will delay the project further at this time, but I would bet at least 1 - 2 months.  My focus right now is getting this resolved as fast as possible to reduce the delay as much as possible.

On the plus side, it sounds like our pillar tokens are coming along and should be done soon, though we haven't seen any samples outside of the Core Tokens, but those are perfect.

Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes.  I wrote this up over my lunch break today and didn't have time to edit like I usually do.
